The Deutscher Werkbund movement to unite art and industry in early twentieth-century Germany had its most dynamic visual manifestation in the poster form. Ludwig Hohlwein, considered the most innovative graphic designer working in Munich at the time, created this example for the Debschitz-Schule, which trained artists and craftsmen in this new, Art Nouveau-influenced style.
