Born in Budapest, Hungary, designer Ilonka Karasz came to the United States in 1913 and settled in New York's Greenwich Village. In a career lasting more than fifty years, she produced works of graphic and surface design, interiors, furniture, and household objects, as well as illustrations for the New Yorker. The Museum recently acquired these original drawings for a group of silver-plated objects which have been in the collection since 1993.
