Michael Beirut has been a principal of Pentagram since 1990. His sophisticated graphics are the product of a rigorous intellect that skillfully layers multiple meanings with a clean, often minimal design aesthetic. This poster makes use of a white Helvetica Bold font, superimposing the two words to create a strobe effect against a black background. The effect is of "lights on, lights off," metaphorically suggesting illumination.
