Textiles and Fashion in the 18th Century

Salesman's sample book

This sample book contains a soft woolen fabric known as “duvetyn,” a designation which derives from the French word duvet or down. The high-quality duvetyn found in this book were intended for men’s waistcoats; lesser grades of duvetyn were used for dresses and coats.
