Yinka Shonibare Selects: Works from the Permanent Collection

On view October 7, 2005–September 24, 2006

In the third guest-curated exhibition in the Nancy and Edwin Marks Gallery, renowned British/Nigerian artist Yinka Shonibare MBE has mined Cooper-Hewitt’s permanent collections to create an installation that addresses themes of transportation, imperialism, tourism, and cultural exchange.

Yinka Shonibare Selects: Works from the Permanent Collection is made possible by the Peter Norton Family Foundation, Joel and Anne Ehrenkranz, and with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts, a State agency. Additional support for interpretive materials was provided by the Getty Foundation.
