WATCH THE PANEL ONLINE

Jurors of the 2007 National Design Awards discuss the current state of design in America and the selection process for this year's winners and finalists. Moderated by jury chair Reed Kroloff, the panel brings together a diverse group of design leaders, including Stephen Burks, Michael Gabellini, Yeohlee Teng, and James Wines. The panel will also be broadcast live on Cooper-Hewitt's Web site.

People’s Design Award

The People’s Design Award gives the general public an opportunity to nominate and vote for a design of their choice by logging on to www.cooperhewitt.org. Whether an everyday object, a design classic, or an architectural landmark, voters are invited to express their views on what constitutes good design. Voting begins September 10, 2007, and the winning design will be announced on October 18, 2007, at the National Design Awards gala in New York City.

National Design Week

Launched in 2006, National Design Week is an education initiative offering free admission for all museum visitors and hosting a series of public programs surrounding the National Design Awards. National Design Week also reaches school teachers and their students nationally, both in the classroom and online. In recognition of the importance of design education, organizations and schools nationwide sponsor events during National Design Week.

New York City teens are invited to learn about careers from over thirty professionals working in the fields of fashion, industrial design, multi-media, graphic design, interior design, and architecture. Design colleges from around the country will be on hand to provide admissions and scholarship information.
