New York City teens are invited to learn about careers from over thirty professionals working in the fields of fashion, industrial design, architecture, multimedia, and graphic design. Design colleges from around the country will be on hand to provide admissions and financial aid information. Meet Tim Gunn, members of the cast of Project Runway, and top designers from all fields.

Tim Gunn, Keynote Speaker

Tim GunnTim Gunn is the Chief Creative Officer at Liz Claiborne Inc. For more than two decades he has served as Dean, Director of Admissions, and Chair of the Department of Fashion Design at Parsons The New School for Design. He is the co-host of Bravo TV’s Project Runway and the host of Tim Gunn’s Guide to Style.

Architecture/Landscape/Interiors

Edmond Bakos

Edmond Bakos is a principal and architect at Rockwell Group. He has been in charge of some of the most complex projects the firm has completed including the first W Hotel in New York.

Carol Gretter, AIA

Carol Gretter is an architect at the design firm, Dennis Wedlick Architect, LLC. She is currently designing an environmentally-friendly residential compound in New York that relies on alternative energy sources.

Jonathan Jackson

Jonathan Jackson is the founder of WSDIA (WeShouldDoItAll), a graphic, interactive, architecture and multi-disciplinary design studio. He has previously worked for Studio Archea in Florence, Italy and Lindy Roy in New York.

Chakaras Johnson

Chakaras Johnson is a principal and creative director of Helen Marie Creative Partners, LLC. His work includes print, interactive, and 3-dimensional space. He is a graduate of Pratt Institute where he is now a visiting professor.

Tom Kundig, FAIA, Principal

Tom Kundig is an architect whose work explores and reinvents the parts of architecture that are “forgotten,” such as doors, windows, and stairs. He is the recipient of this year’s National Design Award for Architecture.

Adam Marcus

Adam Marcus works at Marble Fairbanks Architects, where he is the project architect for the new Student Center at Columbia University’s Journalism School and created a new vehicle storage structure for FDNY in Staten Island.

Sarah Nelson

Sarah Nelson is partner at WSDIA. She graduated from Boston University with a degree in Graphic Design and has worked for Designation/Mike Quon in New Jersey and Ingredient, Inc. in Brooklyn.

David A. Rubin

David A. Rubin is a partner at OLIN. Rubin integrates his passion for art and his interest in the natural world through landscape architecture. His background in fine art allows him to express OLIN’s philosophy of blending art and science to transform social and environmental systems.

Sara Schuster

Sara Schuster is a LEED-accredited designer for STUDIOS architecture, an international architectural firm located in SoHo. She is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati’s School of Architecture.

Gregory Stanford

Gregory Stanford is a principal at Rockwell Group. He has worked on the Gap’s newest retail brand Forth and Towne, and the Carlton Hotel. His current projects include Four Seasons DC and Pacific City Hotel.

Nancy Thiel

Nancy Thiel is a studio leader at Rockwell Group. Her current and past hospitality projects with Rockwell Group include the Forge Restaurant and the Cirque du Soleil Theater.

Monica Valente

Monica Valente has six years of experience with Z. Davis Interiors. She has worked at Perkins Eastman, Pelli Clarke Pelli, and Partners for Architecture, among others.

Tucker Viemeister

Tucker Viemeister is the lab chief at Rockwell Group, heading research and development. The Lab encompasses digital interaction design, the material and image library, modeling, and prototyping resources.

Fashion/Accessories

Maurenice Bisonó

Maurenice Bisonó is a free lance fashion designer who has worked under Jill Stewart and Anne Klein. She was the co-founder and chief designer for Vagin Pouvoir and is currently working on her own line of ready-to-wear and evening wear.

Heather Boucher-Boyce

Heather Boucher-Boyce has a degree in sportswear from FIT and ten years of experience working for various companies. Heather now designs for the Jones Wear Studio Line by Jones New York.

Malan Breton

Malan Breton is in his seventh season as an independent designer. Malan catapulted into American pop culture in 2006 when he joined the season three cast of Bravo TV’s hit show Project Runway.

Juan Castillo

Juan Castillo is a lead designer for Perry Ellis and Michelin Footwear, where he develops men’s casual and athletic shoes, and boots. He is Pratt graduate with a BA in industrial design.

Stephen Dweck

Referred to as the "romancer of the stone," Dweck has built a unique jewelry brand based on his love for natural stones and minerals, and is currently creating a line of home products for prospective clients.

Liz Lange

Liz Lange, founder and president of Liz Lange Maternity, has revolutionized maternity style and comfort with her high-end fashion collection, activewear line for Nike, and her exclusive Target collection.

Graphic/Media/Game/Branding

Vince Diga

Vince Diga is Senior Art Director at MSNBC and a graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Art with a concentration in fine art. He produces design and illustration for print, broadcast, and the Web.

Jesus Farcierth

Jesus Farcierth received a degree in Communication Design from Parsons The New School For Design in 2007. He now freelances for Cooper-Hewitt and the Harlem Health Promotion Center.

Emanuela Frigerio

Emanuela Frigerio is a founding partner of C&G Partners, a New York firm that is a 2007 National Design Awards Finalist. Drawing from her international experience, Frigerio's work focuses on visual communication.

Andrew Green

Andrew Green designs online user experiences for clients including Lonely Planet, Yellow Pages Australia, and Ford. He is currently Experience Lead at Avenue A | Razorfish in New York.

Sheri L. Koetting

Sheri Koetting is a graphic designer and co-founder of MSLK. She works with clients such as Aveda, Puff Daddy, Ralph Lauren, and Sephora. Her work has received recognition from Print magazine.

Marc S. Levitt

Marc Levitt is also a graphic designer and co-founder of MSLK. He works with clients including AIGA, Redken, Showtime, Tumi, and The Wall Street Journal. His work was recognized by Communication Arts.

Pablo A. Medina

Pablo Medina runs Cubanica, an independent design studio/font foundry, and teaches at Parsons The New School For Design. His clients include MOMA, The New York Times, Zoo York, and many others.

Victor Newman

Victor Newman is co-founder and creative director of Freestyle Collective, a collaborative design, branding, and production studio. He is an active member of AIGA and serves on the Broadcast Design Association board.

Paul Schlacter

Paul Schlacter is a designer at Trollbäck + Company. He has worked on projects including major network rebrands, documentary films, commercials, posters, awards galas, logo animations, wrapping paper, buttons, and t-shirts.

Georgianna Stout

Georgianna Stout is founding partner and creative director at 2x4. She develops branding and retail programs for clients including the Brooklyn Museum of Art, The Studio Museum in Harlem, and the Dia:Beacon.

Scott Stowell

Scott Stowell is the proprietor of Open, an independent design studio that uses design to challenge the ways that we look, read, and think. He is the winner of this year’s National Design Award for Communication Design.

David Vogler

David Vogler provides thought leadership for interactive media. Currently, he is a creative director at NBC Universal, providing design direction for the company’s portfolio of digital businesses.

Product

Harry Allen

Due to his versatile nature, Allen is often asked to span multiple design disciplines. His systematic design process has lead to some of the most intelligent products and interiors in the world today.

Dror Benshetrit

In 2002, Dror Benshetrit founded Studio Dror, a New York based multidisciplinary design company specializing in product design, which has since received considerable praise and awards from the design community.

Ayse Birsel

Born and raised in Turkey, Birsel is a furniture designer whose work is in the permanent collections of Cooper-Hewitt and the Museum of Modern Art. She is a National Design Awards finalist and received the 2001 Young Designer Award from the Brooklyn Museum of Art.

Laurene Leon Boym

Laurene Leon Boym is a partner of Boym Partners, Inc. She is the founder of Association of Women Industrial Designers (AWID) and lectures on design throughout the world.

Brian Chui

Brian Chui is a designer for the New York-based design consultancy Smart Design. He graduated from Pratt Institute with a degree in industrial design and has worked as a graphic designer in Hong Kong.

Mark Goetz

Mark Goetz has designed more than seventy chairs and products used in locations such as President Clinton’s Harlem Office and Harvard University. Goetz founded TZ Design, and is a full-time professor at Pratt.

Sunmee Kim

Sunmee lived in South Korea, New Zealand, and Canada before joining the Design Innovation group at Motorola Inc. as a design researcher. She studied industrial design at Carleton University in Ottawa.

Christine Leitner

Christine Leitner is a multidisciplinary designer. Her enthusiasm for design and her commitment to project management led her to take on her newest career challenge as a recruiter for industrial design at Yeh Ideology.

Tony Whitfield

Tony Whitfield is a product designer, artist, and educator who has written frequently about art, design, film, and new media. Since 1999 he has been the chair of the Product Design Department at Parsons The New School for Design.

Angela Yeh

Angela Yeh founded Yeh IDeology after ten years of recruiting for Industrial Design. Previously, she was an industrial designer following her completion of the Masters Program at Pratt Institute.
