The Online National Design Museum will open gateways that set the highest standards for museums of the future. My hand is eagerly poised over the mouse as I await its doors to open.

re:Educate Education
The physical renovation will be paralleled by a virtual expansion. The Online National Design Museum, www.cooperhewitt.org, will serve as an interactive extension of Cooper-Hewitt’s public space. It will provide vital, new content ranging from access to the Museum’s collections to online exhibitions, seminars, and extensive education resources for teachers, scholars, students, researchers, and the public—anyone who wishes to access information about historical and contemporary design.
The Online National Design Museum will offer:
- » Online access to highlights of the Museum's 250,000 objects
- » Professional development programs for K–12 teachers that incorporate design thinking and language across the curriculum
- » Downloadable resource packs for school teachers, including accredited lesson plans linked to national standards
- » Educational games enhancing visual literacy and creative problem-solving in young people in an informal learning environment
- » A forum for design-school professors to exchange research internationally
- » A new level of interactivity, allowing the public to participate in the National Design Awards and other programs
- » The latest updates on design events and activities at Cooper-Hewitt and across the nation during National Design Week and throughout the year
